Next up on the logo casualty list, NBC Universal, or now, NBCUniversal. No more peacock? Damn, that's a bummer. Is this the doing of new owner, Comcast? Bastards.

Sometimes we get sick of covering shitty logo redesigns, but mostly we can't believe we have to keep covering shitty logo redesigns.

We caught these videos made by PGA golfer, Ben Crane. We have no idea why he made these other than to be hilarious. They call out bencranegolf.com at the end, but really, there's no reason. Good stuff.

    Check out the outtakes here.

Have you heard about Facebook's "Sponsored Stories?"

Here's the premise, they use your personal information (say perhaps, when you check in somewhere or "Like" something), turn it into an ad on the page and call it a "Sponsored Story" and make boatloads of money off of it.

It might not even annoy us so much if it wasn't for this bullshit video in which they make is sound like they're doing their users a favor.

At first we thought the Geico/Xtranormal spots (made by The Martin Agency) were so bad, we were blown away that they were even real. Now we just wish we could get paid to write one. Fun.

Best Buy's first-ever Super Bowl spot this year will star Justin Bieber, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. It will air in the third quarter of the game and was created by CP+B, Boulder.

Man, we wish we could go back in time and give Black-Sabbath-Ozzy a glimpse into his future.

Head over to Boston.com today and check out a page take over that Mullen has done for JetBlue.

The page loads up with blue banners and copy that reads "You're freezing!" But as you roll over the banner and get closer to the "Book now" button the page plays a game of hot and cold. As you get closer the page and messaging changes colors up to a call to action that reads, "Turn up the heat by flying south."

Check it out. Pretty damn appropriate piece of work for a day like today.

mirrorLAnd is an online work of fiction created by local Social Media and Brand Strategist, Jenka Gurfinkel.

mirrorLAnd is an adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, except Alice is now in her 20s, just out of college, and falling down the rabbit-hole working as an assistant in the film industry. Until she lands in the wonderland of LA’s underground circus.

Like the original Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, mirrorLAnd has 12 chapters, which will be released online in serialized installments. Each chapter release will also incorporate the works of various musicians, fashion designers, and artists whose creations have influenced both the story, and the subculture from which it emerged.

For the past four years Jenka has also been writing non-fiction at socialcreature.com and was recently deemed a one of five people "Leading the Boston Creative Revolution" by BostInnovation.com.

  • The Portland Egotist Presents: "Experts," by George Parker

    / Comments (0)

George Parker has over 30 years as a writer in the advertising game. Copywriter, check. Creative Director, yep. Book author, affirmative. Partner in an ad agency, done that. The author of AdScam has pretty much seen it all when it comes to advertising. Bonus point. He’s also a wise guy trapped in a cantankerous old man and he’s got a bone to pick when it comes to terrible advertising.
