One Up Me
OneUpMe.com is sort of like a caption contest, but instead of commenting on an image, you're filling in the end of a sentence. Each day OneUpMe.com posts the start of a sentence and people fill in the rest.
It's a great idea, but so far, some of the responses we've seen have been lame. This needs to improve. Post something, won't you?

The problem is that everyone want's to be the brilliant contributor, not so many want to be the person who votes for the best line.
In fact "pro" oneupme participants vote for the worst lines to help their chances of winning.
Also, Just try and quit OneUpMe.com, you will still get email, remove them from your facebook apps and you will find that you have to add them back again to be able to log in, to try and unsubscribe, but once you are back you will find that you cannot unsubscribe.
If you complain about it on their forums, they will then delete your account without acknowledging it.
This is a shady company.
In response to Chad: as far as everyone wanting to be a good contributor and not a good voter, this is untrue. Players are ranked both my popularity (votes you receive) and taste (votes you give). From my experience, many players are interested in moving up both leaderboards, and taste is much easier to garner than popularity. With thousands of votes cast each day and hundreds of submissions, it appears that the community is in fact voting frequently.
As far as removing oneself from the site, I have not tried to do this myself, so I do not know how it goes. However, characterizing the "company" as shady is not very accurate. The entire operation is run by the founder, Eric Fisher, who is accessible and present both on the forum and as a player. He responds personally and politely to most questions and requests. I believe he has help from one or two programmers, but other than that, there is no company to speak of and they do not turn any profit from the site. In fact, I believe Eric has stated that he is paying for the website out-of-pocket.
The game is fun and the forum community is consistently kind and inviting. I haven't seen too many Internet communities with those characteristics. I'm sorry that some players have not enjoyed it, but the vast majority can attest that they do.
