• Beauty in the Breakdown.

Speaking of Facebook, check out the work of 21st century process painter Enda O’Donoghue.

The Irish artist searches through popular online social networks and blogs, finds the "perfect" image, requests permission from the owner and then begins the meticulous process of deconstructing and then recreating said image – digital glitches and all – as an oil painting on canvas.

Now if you're going to get recognized for sifting through and looking at other people's random pictures online, this is the way to do it. Just sayin'.

Remember the Winklevoss Twins in The Social Network? You know how Armie Hammer is only one guy but played both of them? Ever heard of Josh Pence (for that matter, ever heard of Armie Hammer?) Here's how Fincher & Co. painstakingly pulled off the twins:

Awesome, yet totally unnecessary? Or a great example of committing to a vision and executing it perfectly?

As for Lindsay Lohan's performance in The Parent Trap remake, we're pretty sure they made a deal with the devil for that one.

We meant to share this with you yesterday. But we've just been working too hard...

Anyway, we love you. There, we said it.

This nice little reminder comes to us from The Duffy Agency (with a little help from Steve Conroy of Conroy Public Relations).

  • Have You Seen This Ad?

So... This is embarrassing. We were sitting on the edge of our seats last night as we eagerly awaited the conclusion of this year's Beanpot Tourney. And we have to admit, we were rooting for BC to prevail (and they did, so congrats, Eagles). Why, you ask? (No, it's not that we don't like Northeastern, another fine New England institution).

We were hoping Boston College would repeat as Beanpot Champs because we were so looking forward to commemorate the win by posting some classic print ads from back in the day when Hill Holliday was handling branding duties for said Jesuit, Catholic university down on Comm. Ave.

Alas, as we rummaged through our print archives, said ads could not be found (we're pretty sure the Hill / BC partnership that produced these ads happened before digital). So, why tell you all this now – when we could have easily just scrapped the story, run something else and no one would be the wiser?

Because we are just that stubborn. And we are not above asking you for help.

From what we can remember, the campaign in question featured BC's sports teams (men's ice hockey, basketball, football, etc.) and juxtaposed these images with tongue-in-cheek copy that alluded to Biblical imagery ("walking on water," etc.) So, are we crazy and just making all this up? Or does any of this sound familiar to anyone? Do you have access to these ads? Can you please send them our way?

In the meantime, enjoy these "vintage" ads:

PS: BU lost to Harvard in the consolation game? Really? C'mon, BU.

Pretty great spot for Jim Beam. Although, we can't help but remember all the times we've made a "bold choice" and spent a night drinking bourbon.
