TNTP is a national non-profit that was founded by teachers and is passionate about great teaching. We believe great teaching is transformative and we know that teachers, more than any other factor in education, have the greatest impact on whether or not a student will succeed in school. Our mission is to end educational inequality by providing excellent teachers to students who need them most and by advancing policies and practices that ensure effective teaching happens in every classroom.
Our Communications & Publications Department positions TNTP as the nation’s most authoritative voice on effective teachers. We are a collaborative, creative, 15-person team leading TNTP's marketing, publications and communications efforts. As Director of Communications – Marketing, you will be a key contributor to our in-house creative agency, which supports TNTP initiatives nationwide. On any given day, we’re recruiting talented new teachers and leaders, celebrating outstanding educators and shaping education policies.
Who We Want
Our Director will love both dreaming up new ideas and diving deep into the creative details. Prior professional experience in Communications or Marketing is essential for this role (6-10 years is the likely sweet spot), with experience engaging internal or external clients. We expect our Director to:
• Have a keen sensibility for telling a story with words and images. You seek opportunities for defining and spreading a clear, vibrant and authentic brand. You have solid visual design experience and understand how to use design strategically to amplify your message.
• Be an outstanding communicator. You are an expert writer and editor with a clear and compelling voice, a sensitive ear and a knack for finding simplicity in complexity.
• Be a strong strategic thinker. You are a natural problem solver who can efficiently grasp and act on a big picture, quickly analyze the root causes and define new ways forward. You are intellectually curious and thrive on working with multidisciplinary teams.
• Invest and influence others. You bring out the best in your team and inspire your colleagues. You are confident with clients, listen actively and advise effectively.
What You’ll Do
At TNTP, you will join amazing people who have diverse backgrounds and experiences, are inspired by our mission and are highly motivated to change children’s lives through education. You will:
• Set strategy and manage creative for TNTP’s brand and major communications channels, including TNTP’s website, social media, emails and publications releases.
• Consult directly with external school and district clients on their marketing to teachers and principals.
• Provide outstanding marketing strategy and project support to initiatives across TNTP.
• Lead a thriving team. One of your greatest responsibilities and privileges will be to manage and develop TNTP’s amazing people, and ensure a vibrant culture.
What We Offer
TNTP offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position with the potential for an annual performance based bonus. We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering 100% of the employee premium for the base medical plan and subsidizing the majority of costs for a spouse/domestic partner and children.
