Important, please read. Welcome to the Member’s Area of The Boston Egotist. Now that you’ve created your account, you’ll want to complete your Public Profile by filling out the information below.

In considering how to build a profile, it's important to know where the information will appear on the site. Once saved, your profile will be used as your site-wide identity – you'll have your own page that features a stripped down Facebook-style account of your expertise and work. If you're logged in, your comments will be tied to that profile. Additionally, the 'main specialty' you select when setting up will be used to sort in the Talent & Resources Section of our site. So, if you choose 'advertising' you'll come up for that specialty in the Talent area. The sub-specialties you choose will show up on your individual profile page.

First, set up a profile for the company you own or work for. That way, we can get your firm properly listed in the Talent & Resources section of the site. If you’re comfortable with the comments you leave on the site being tied to that profile, you only need the one profile.

If you want your comments tied to you as an individual instead, you’re seeking freelance outside your nine to five, or simply want to show off your work on our site, set up an additional profile for yourself. You'll need to use a separate email address for a second profile.

When considering what to include in your profile description, be as specific as possible about your unique specialties. If you’re a photographer who specializes in editorial, for instance, that should be the focus of what you write. Remember that everything you enter will be publicly displayed, but you'll be able to revise whenever you like. Additionally, include your phone number or email address if you don't have a personal website you're linking to – so that people can contact you if they're interested in your services.

After you’ve submitted your profile information, don’t forget to click on the “Portfolio” link to upload your work.
