Anyone get to see this in person at the ICA last week? Kinda wish something like this was actually part of the Opening Ceremonies in London...
Last Friday, just as the world finished watching the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, Procter & Gamble and Gillette staged an event by the Institute of Contemporary Art to wish Team USA a great start to The Olympics. The event was a spectacle of light and water featuring 60-foot holograms of Team USA athletes Tyson Gay launching off the blocks and Ryan Lochte diving into historic Boston Harbor. Set to a soundtrack featuring M83's "Steve McQueen", the event officially launched Gillette's global 'Get Started' campaign.
It's right here in Boston, too – specifically, Mission Hill School, a public elementary school in the city's Roxbury neighborhood. Their empathy-based culture and curriculum focuses on learning essential life skills every responsible citizen of the world needs, as well as building students' collaborative – versus competitive – abilities. As such, the school emphasizes the development of these "5 Habits of Mind" –
Evidence: How do you know?
Conjecture: What if things were different?
Connections: What does it remind you of?
Relevance: Is it important? Why does it matter?
Viewpoint: What would someone else say? How would someone else feel?
Questions we should all be asking daily in our world of advertising and branding, no?
It's that time of the year again. Graduation time. Commencement. And straight-talking Wellesley High School English teacher, David McCullough Jr. (yes, thatDavid McCullough's son), had this to say to the Class of 2012:

You're invited to SapientNitro’s second annual bathtub-themed party. Join us on June 13, that celebrated date exactly 39 days after Cinco de Mayo, which marks the great—oh, who are we kidding. We just wanted an excuse to transform the Colonnade Hotel's rooftop pool into Boston’s biggest bathtub.
So, waterproof your business cards, bust out your bathrobes, and get ready to swap sombreros at Boston's most fiesta-y agency party of the summer.
(NOTE: THIS IS NOT A POOL PARTY. UNLESS YOU WANT IT TO BE.)
Did you hear about Mullen’s new campaign for JetBlue? It’s a game-show called “Get Away With It” – a real, live, online game show with a real studio (in Manhattan), a real host (“Mark Hammerberg”), a real assistant (“Hailey Sweet”) and real contestants who will be streamed into the studio via Skype.
They'll be running five shows per day from June 18 – 22. They’re recruiting players right now. Winners and players will get JetBlue Getaways vacation packages to places like the Caribbean and other tropical paradises. Check it out.
