  • Do You Still Need To Decide Your Side?

    / Comments (0)

Kansas-city based advertising agency Barkley knows many voters are still on the fence, so they created this funny, light-hearted poll – on the premise that if you can make these simple choices, you can also vote for the president – to help voters with their big decision today. Time is running out so experience it here for yourself.

How does it work? Barkley’s Decide Your Side poll provides partakers with a mix of culturally relevant choices between vanilla or chocolate, iPhone or Android, Shaven or Not Shaven, and so on. The poll compares the choices of the people who take it to that of the full audience and draws a conclusion of which candidate that voter is most likely to support (i.e. – if you like Vanilla, Android devices and Booze – you will most likely vote for Romney). And of course, you can choose to share with your social media circle at the end of the poll – the new “I Voted” sticker, if you will.

So, what are you waiting for?

  • The Nerdery Launches The Nerd Drive: A Recruiting Campaign to Hire 100 Nerds in 100 Days

    / Comments (0)

The Nerdery has its headquarters in Minnesota, where the unemployment rate is two percent below the national average — but the jobless rate is miniscule everywhere among skilled web professionals. Bottom line: The Nerdery needs more Nerds — and eventually, maybe all of them. For now, The Nerdery is rallying the community at-large to support its Nerd Drive to hire 100 Nerds in 100 days.

Anyone referring a nerd they know will earn $100 if their referral gets an interview — and their referral bonus grows to $500 after their nerd has worked 90 days for The Nerdery. Much like a PBS member drive, thank-you gifts for supporters will escalate in value. Anyone who simply refers a nerd will be sent an “I Love Nerds” pocket protector; they’ll be rewarded with a mug if their referral follows through and applies for a Nerdery job.

With offices in Minneapolis, Chicago and Kansas City, The Nerdery has made Inc. magazine’s list of fastest growing private companies in its first five years of eligibility, and has roughly doubled its staff and revenue almost every year since its founding by three programmers in 2003.

We do indeed love our Nerds locally, but this seems like a genuine opportunity for Nerd bliss — or at least for you to get some shiny swag out of referring a Nerd The Nerdery's way. Give it a look.

  • Are You Ready For Star Wars: Episode VII?

    / Comments (0)

Well, ready or not, Disney's announcement yesterday of its $4.05 billion purchase of Lucasfilm also came with a vow to release the latest chapter in the Star Wars saga in 2015. And subsequent films in a new trilogy to arrive every 2-3 years thereafter.

Here, George Lucas and Lucasfilms co-chair Kathleen Kennedy discuss the future of the franchise:

Of course, speculation has already began on who should helm the next episode – with fan favorites JJ Abrams, Brad Bird and Jon Favreau, amongst others, being mentioned in the same breadth.

Oh yeah, as if that wasn't enough for you to wrap your head around, this also means Indiana Jones is coming to the Magic Kingdom...
